The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Frustration Regarding Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its size classifications for female and kids' apparel without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping.
The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms.
They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Updates
Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
