In a bizarre crossover event that defies conventional expectations, Ubisoft has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Questline Disclosed

According to the official announcement, "A strange encounter pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where rumors of banned rituals and monstrous transformations echo through the shadows." The storyline introduces a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a clandestine cult.

The mission centers on "bizarre tests and a terrifying enemy" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Iconic Places and Metamorphoses

The trailer showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview finishes with a powerful moment showing a character, presumably the prisoner, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Prizes and Additional Material

Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an unique katana in addition to numerous objects concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

Third Free Story Content

This update also brings the game's newest free story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature abilities: Naoe introduces a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime franchises. The series earlier featured a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla subtly included a quest that clearly echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
